Well, here we are almost into June and is the weather turning better, or have I just damned it?!
President’s Day: Don’t forget our rearranged President’s Day is on Sunday (2 June). We plan to start serving food at 12.30pm then play bowls afterwards. Many thanks to all those who have put their name down to bring some food for the American Buffet – could you please arrive before 12.30 so that we can set it all out. Club tops to be worn but then there is a challenge: who can wear the most outrageous shorts/trousers/skirt – a prize to the best one!
Touring Games: thank you to everyone who has put their name down to play in the two touring games that we are hosting in June, and also for our game against our good friends at County BC. Costs have gone up for the ferry so the price will be £20, which is good value for a day out and a splendid buffet in Southampton. We just need a couple more names for the two games that we are hosting before I can sort out the rinks for the other two games.
Results: there have been some mixed results this last week in the League, County Competitions and Nationals, but there is a ‘joint performance of the week’ from two games. Firstly, to Steve Morris, Mark Baker & Paul Green who won their Triples game against a very strong team from Sandown, who fancied their chances of winning that competition. Secondly, to the Men’s B Team, who beat Ventnor A 8-2 on Saturday without their captain! Well done everyone though.
Finally, a plea for more help on Thursday mornings – everything is growing so fast so there is a lot of regular work to do each week in the two hours we have.
