Hi Folks
A great Afternoon, hopefully enjoyed by everyone in our roll-up and Sunshine.
Many thanks to everyone who put their name down to take part and helped to make it a really social occasion. Thanks also to our resident helpers, Jackie & Sue, who made the teas & coffees, and to everyone who joined in by putting away equipment, washing up, emptying bins, etc. Look out too for the photos taken by our papparazzi, Mark Baker.
Of course there has to be a winning Team. We played 3 games of Six Ends, with total scores added up at the end. Winning rink were Steve Lewis, Jane Furmidge John McNally (who brought his own bunch of supporters – loved the pom-poms!) & Pat Barsdell. Unfortunately, there has to be a Losing Team, who were Rog Payne (despite his usual 2 pints of Guinness!), Cat Mason, Geof Hughes & Laraine McKinlay. Let’s hope they have more luck with their prize of a ‘Lucky Dip Euromillions Ticket’ for Tonight’s draw.
The games were followed by a drink and many people ordered food from Captain Pizza – 14 pizzas, 6 burgers & 3 ‘Bigdogs’. I apologise for the teeth-marks in each one, but it was the only way that I could tell what was what! Each pizza was lovingly prepared by our grandson, Finley, who has got a Part-Time job there. He said he would have swapped his shift had he known how many pizzas had to be prepared, but he was happy with his £10 tip!
Finally, thanks to Steve Morris & Chris New who held our final monthly draw before the games. Winners are: £40 – Alan Mabey; £25 – Phil Smith’s grandchildren; £10 – Craig Wilson-Smith. Sue will bring the cash down to the game Tomorrow Afternoon, but she does have to pass the dress shops on the way!
