Hi Folks,
Thank you to everybody who came down to the President’s Day on Sunday. It was a really enjoyable, sociable afternoon with lots of good food, thanks to the generosity of those who brought it along. Of course, I felt that it was my responsibility to taste everything first, to ensure that it was ok. In some cases, I had to taste more than one portion of each, just to make sure!
The competition to win the most outrageous shorts/trousers was won by Jacqui Morris, but you will soon be able to see photos of us on the club Website, as our resident paparazzi, Mark, was in full flow with his camera.
We had good fun in the games afterwards, apart from having to dash for cover when a swarm of bees were so interested in what we were doing, that they came to have a look. Rumours are that it was Shanklin A spies, who were on a scouting mission, looking at our players before the Top Club game against our men’s B Team this evening! So, we had to finish off the cakes and biscuits, together with the tea & coffee made by Jackie & Sue once again.
We also took £185 from the sale of drinks from the fridge and almost £60 from the raffle – again, many thanks to everyone who brought prizes along, and to Carol and Sandra who organised everything excellently. However, the money was a bonus – the afternoon was a real success, and members were asking if we could have a President’s/Captain’s Day every month!
Thanks again.
Brian
