Hi Folks
Another successful afternoon against our latest Touring Team, Bethlem Royal Hospital BC, who come from the Surrey/Kent border. Although it was close, we won 98-85, but what is important is that the afternoon was really enjoyable against a group of people who said that they had a thoroughly good time, despite having to put up with Allan Ward, who filled in on one of their rinks because they were one person short! Thanks, Allan.
Many thanks to everyone who played, but especially to Pete Furmidge, who was Captain of the Day, even though his opposite number asked Jane how she put up with him and coped with his ‘sense of humour’! Also, thanks to Carol, Sandra & Jane who handled the raffle once again, to Rob who once again put out the equipment for the game, helped with the Teas/Coffees, selling drinks from the fridge & washing up and, of course, dealt with any questions from the opposition in his usual tactful, diplomatic way! Is there nothing that this man cannot do?! Thanks to Roger Payne too, who filled in at the last moment when someone dropped out this morning.
So, another successful day for our Income, with Rink Fees of £120, £71 from the Raffle & £160 from selling drinks from the fridge, despite Phil being so excited & smashing 2 bottles on the floor – there’s a rumour that he has Greek heritage!
Chris is getting good weight-training from carrying all the cash to the bank each week, but he is thinking of asking Securicor for a bodyguard, either that or will set Jackie on anyone who gets too close! In fact, he knows all the HSBC staff by first name and they are thinking of inviting him to their Staff Party next month!
Finally, keep a lookout for the sheet for you to sign up to the remaining Touring Games at the end of August & beginning of September. We have got 6 games in 8 days then another a week later, so we need everyone to put your name down for the games!
Cheers
Brian
