Hi All,
With no rain but enduring very difficult blustery conditions on Friday we played through the remainder of our 2025 Club Competition Finals.
We kicked off at 2pm with three singles disciplines.
The NOVICE Singles saw Phil Smith play Pat Barsdell both of whom were runners – up in finals the previous day so a chance to get a win on the board! After 11 ends Pat had the edge with a lead of 12 – 7. Phil then found his form. A close tussle ensued with Phil running out the winner 21 – 17.
In the MENS Singles Bill Pike played Steve Lewis. It proved to be a resounding victory for Bill who coped with the blustery conditions much better than Steve. A deserved champion with a score of 21 -2.
The LADIES Singles Plate final was contested between Cat Mason and Carol Wootton. After an even start at 6 ends the score stood at 4 – 4. But then Carol found some good form and consistency in the strong windy conditions and ran out the winner 21 -7.
At 4pm we welcomed the LADIES SINGLES Finalists onto the green, Netty Smallman playing Danni Williams. This was Danni’s first final at the club.Danni got off to a super start leading 5 – 0 but Netty soon found some consistency and after some competitive play led 18 – 11 after 16 ends. But Danni wasn’t giving up! It took another 5 ends for Netty to get over the line 21 – 13!
