Hi All,
Despite the uncertain weather forecast and recent rain and after an early green inspection, Robbie was able to set out 2 rinks for us to play our 2 scheduled finals!
We started at 12pm with the Open Pairs Final.
It was a close game with Phil and Pat needing 2 shots on the 18th end to force an extra end.
Ian and Graham secured one shot to win 15 – 12!
With a window of fine blustery weather we set the Mens Plate Singles off early.
This was an exciting game to watch going to 25 ends.
Pat got off to a good start leading 6-1 after 4 ends but by end 12 it was 11-11.
Pat then managed to maintain a narrow lead until the 25th end where he was leading 20 -19.
Mark had saved game the previous end by securing one shot with his last wood!
The shot changed several times in the last end but Mark secured the game with the 2 shots he needed to win 21 – 20
It was the only time in the game he had gone into the lead!
Congratulations to both players for providing us with such a competitive final!
I must thank everyone who who helped to get today’s finals completed.
To the Players who had to endure the blustery weather conditions.
To Robbie who checked which parts of the green we could play on after the recent rain and set out all the equipment.
To Pie who marked the Mens Plate Singles and to Jenny who presented the Trophies to the finalists so I could secure the photographs for posterity!
Also many thanks to the Club Members who turned out to support despite the adverse weather conditions.
