Eastbourne Day 3

Another day done and our final game at Bexhill over. Following two successful games it was felt that the Captain of the Day (no name mentioned, Alan Mabey – oops, sorry) did not give an inspirational enough pre-game talk to his players and we went down. However, in fairness to Alan, a number of players had sore heads after drinking until 1.30am this morning! Two players, Cat & Pat Barsdell, bowled a wrong-bias too.

The only saving grace was that Alan’s rink got the wooden spoons and Eeyore, who was carried proudly by Mick, and who didn’t want to return him after the evening meal. The winning rink was Pat Barsdell, Alan Barry, Mel and, for the third game in a row, Jenny. Did I tell you that Paul, Graham, Ernie/Fred & Jenny got a hot shot yesterday too?

Fred was in his element again, giving out the fines, which his stool-pigeon, Ernie, recorded for him, while Fred was playing. Also, an adjudication from England Golf Association was received earlier this evening, following yesterday’s protest about the result in the Cowes Medina Open Crazy Golf Tournament. Therefore, Netty was declared the winner and received a bottle of wine and a new set of golf clubs, with which she was delighted. Did I tell you that Paul, Graham, Ernie/Fred & Jenny got a hot shot yesterday?

Following the fines meeting, groups stayed in the room, but, as soon as the live music was heard next door, a number of people ‘tripped the light-fantastic’. We have the incriminating evidence on film and questions were asked about whether these people had ‘given their all’ in the game this afternoon (only joking!). The club committee is meeting on Wednesday evening to discuss this aaspect as well as other breaches of discipline and players’ performances. Did I tell you that Paul, Graham, Ernie/Fred and Jenny got a hot shot yesterday?

So, tomorrow is our final day but our game at Arundel BC has been cancelled due to the state funeral. More to follow.

Cheers

Brian

P.S. Paul, Graham, Ernie/Fred and Jenny got a hot shot yesterday!
